Ookay Interview at Electric Zoo

One of the leaders in the American trap scene today is Ookay. Hailing from San Diego, the young producer exploded on the scene with his debut and sophomore releases on Ultra, both ranking in the top 10 on Beatport. Since then, he’s put his career in overdrive, collaborating with big-time artists such as Sean Paul, Steve Aoki, Chris Lake, Diplo, Avicii, The Chainsmokers, and many more.

He is known for his on-stage charisma, performing on some of the worlds biggest stages such as EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo, Red Rocks, and TomorrowWorld. He broke onto the scene back in 2014 with his collaboration with Showtek, Bouncer (posted below). He has support from dance music icons as Showtek, Diplo, Tiesto, Major Lazer, Steve Aoki, Borgore, Nervo, DJ Snake, David Guetta, Deorro, TJR, Krewella and so many more.

He has his first headlining tour coming up this fall/winter, the WOW! COOL! tour, creating a family friendly ambiance similar to Yo Gabba Gabba.

I had the pleasure of speaking with the trap superstar below. We talked about what he did before music, the song that helped him burst into the scene, and what’s to come next from his first headlining tour. We did this entire interview sitting on the floor, just hanging out.

Below the interview are songs we talked about from the interview.

Ookay’s new single, Lighthouse, with Fox Stevenson.

A Godfather of Dubstep, Flux Pavilion, just remixed Ookay’s more recognizable tracks, Thief.

Ookay broke out to the scene back in 2014 with his collaboration with Showtek, Bouncer.
