Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa (born 22 August 1995) is a British singer-songwriter from London. Her parents are Serbian. When Dua was 13, she moved with her family back to Kosovo when the state declared its independence from Serbia. At the age of 15, she moved back to London because she wanted to build a career in music. At the age of 16, she began working as a model.

Lipa’s father was once a rock musician, and she grew up listening to him sing. At the age of 14 she began posting covers of her favorite songs by artists such as Christina Aguilera and Nelly Furtado on YouTube. She began writing her own music shortly thereafter.

In 2015, Dua Lipa was signed to Warner Bros. Records, managed by the same team as Lana Del Rey. In August 2015, she released her first single New Love. The single was produced by Emile Haynie and Andrew Wyatt. She released her second single Be the One in October 2015. She describes her musical style as “dark pop”.
